Eligibility for Journalism programme: For bachelor degree in journalism, generally the minimum eligibility is 10+2 certificate and for Post graduate degree courses a graduate degree in journalism is required. Graduates in any stream from a recognized university with 50% marks can apply. Candidates preparing for their graduation examination can be  admitted on certain conditions. Some institutes and private educational Institute offer one year certificate courses in journalism for which eligibility is 10+2. Candidates should have good grasping power of English language. A good knowledge about current affairs, both Indian and International, is looked upon favorably. A good typing speed, motivation towards work and fearlessness is needed fro such a proferssion.

Remuneration: A Journalist can expect to get a salary of Rs.5000 - Rs.10000 as a trainee. As a reporter, candidate can expect to earn Rs.10000 - Rs. 20000. Editors earn a salary of Rs. 15,000-Rs.40, 000 besides Perks like housing and traveling concessions are also provided.
