Homeopathy Education in Mumbai

Homeopathy is a holistic system of medicine, in which we treat the patient as a whole taking into account the role of body, mind and spirit. Homoeopathy believes in the concept of vital force, which when becomes disturbed through disharmonious living and thinking, a manifestation of symptoms takes place which we call disease.

In homeopathy doctor treat the patient by taking into thought his constitution, his mental makeup, desires and dislikes, eating habits, reaction to hot and cold climate, sleep, dreams, past and family history of chronic diseases. Homoeopathic medicines are usually free from any side effects.  

Homeopathy was discovered in Germany 200 years ago by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann. He graduated from medical school in 1779 and started his own medical practice. He soon began his homeopathic experiments in 1790.

Homeopathy was known in the old state of Bombay. A group of homeopath was carrying Homeopathis activities in Bombay under the name of Bombay Homeopathic Association, started by Roy and Co; Homeopathic chemist at Tardeo was it, still exists in name. At this place there was a Homeopathic college which was giving 2 years training and a dispensary was started. The college was closed by Government in 1938, the dispensary is still working and library is also there under the charge of Roy and Co.

Courses and Eligibility:

Diploma in Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery (D.H.M.S.):Eligible candidate should have passed 12th standard from a recognized institute. This is a four years course consisting of six months of compulsory internship.

Bachelor in Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery Course (B.H.M.S): under the affiliation from University of Mumbai Eligible candidate should have passed 12th standard from a recognized institute. The course is of five and a half year’s duration consisting of one year compulsory internship in Homoeopathy.

Doctorate course in Homoeopathy (M.D.):Eligible candidate should have passed B.H.M.S. course from a recognized institute. The Doctorate course will be conducted initially in subjects like Homoeopathic material medica, organon of medicine, and repertory.Here we have listed some of the reputed homeopathic institutes of Mumbai.
