Most of the universities and the institutes in Mumbai conduct their own entrance exams and accept national level entrance exams too for admissions to their programmes. Following are the main entrance exams that need to be taken for admission to various colleges and universities in Mumbai:
CMAT
The All India council for Technical Education (AICTE) conducts the Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) as an entrance test for admission to 4,000 management colleges that offer MBA and 500 colleges which run postgraduate diploma in management programs. CMAT is a computer based test that is conducted twice a year - first in September/ October and again in February for admission to a single academic session. Colleges in Mumbai like JBIMS use CMAT scores for their admission procedures.
CAT
The Common Admission Test (CAT) is among the toughest MBA entrance exam that needs to be taken to qualify for admission to post graduate management programmes offered by well-known management institutes in Maharashtra like NITIE and SPJIMR.
NMAT
The NMIMS Management Aptitude Test (NMAT) is an all India entrance examination for admission into management programs offered by Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) Mumbai. NMAT is a Computer Based Test (CBT) administered in association of Pearson VUE.
MT-CET
The Maharashtra Technology-Common Entrance Test (MT-CET) is conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE). Formerly known as the Maharashtra Health and Technology-Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET), the MT-CET evaluates candidates for admission to pharmacy and engineering courses.
MAH-MCA-CET
The Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra conducts the Maharashtra Master of Computer Applications Common Entrance Test (MAH-MCA-CET) for admissions to the postgraduate Master of Computer Applications (MCA) degree, either as a first-year/direct second-year (separate division and lateral entry) in the three-year full-time course.
AMUPMDC ASSO CET
The Association of Management of Unaided Private Medical and Dental Colleges (AMUPMDC) conducts a Common Entrance Test (ASSO CET) for admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BPTh, BOTh & BSc-Nursing courses in private un-aided medical colleges in the state of Maharashtra.
