International Institute for population Sciences (IIPS) Mumbai was established in the year 1956 jointly by Sir Dorabji Tata Trust, United Nations, the Government of India. It was declared as a Deemed University in 1985.The institute is an autonomous body under the administrative supervision of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare,Government of India. The University is a member of The Association of Indian Universities (AIU). It is recognized but not funded by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
